UPS is a mess for international shipping. Apparently, “overnight” actually means “a week” or close to it. The package wasn’t actually picked up from Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong until the 30th though, so maybe I’m being to rough on them. Anyhow, the order status server at Lenovo was down so I sent a message over to my rep to get the actual UPS tracking number and received this reply:
Justin,
Yes the server is down, but the UPS tracking number is 1Z127V18D302321995.
I can tell you that based on the current status, you could have it by Friday. Monday looks probable otherwise, unless orders are held up in customs.
Customs. That’d be just my luck. Maybe I’ll have it by this time next week.
Anyone have any good suggestions for running a Linux mailserver? We’re possibly looking to switch from something that we really like, but runs on Windows. The management interface is what I’m really looking for. Easy way to add/remove users, setup inbound/outbound filters and so forth. I’m looking at Hula right now, but I’m afraid it’s too “young” at this point.
Yipee!
Dear Customer,
Thank you for choosing Lenovo!
All or part of your order has shipped. In some instances your order may be shipped from more than one location, which will result in multiple notifications. Products in this shipment are listed below. You will only be invoiced for products that have shipped.
My order status shows a serial number for the Thinkpad, so I’m assuming that means that at least that part of my order is on the way. Tracking number isn’t working at UPS.com yet, so I suppose I’ll have to wait a few hours to see if the UPS man has it with him today or if it’s going to be tomorrow.
If anyone wants to buy me a D-Link DI-824VUP, I just added it to Amazon Wishlist. Muhahahahahaha.
The ol’ DI-624+ finally kicked the bucket. I came home from work Tuesday to a dead Internet connection. After various attempts to connect, I realized the WAN port was dead. I swapped it with a Linksys that I keep in my kit for quick and dirty networking, but I can’t stand it. I want another D-Link or at least a better Linksys. I need something that does 802.11g though since the new Thinkpad’s built in wireless does b/g.
Well, I did it. I bought the Thinkpad. I even managed to mooch a “free” 2nd AC Adapter to help offset the cost of Shipping/Handling which I complained about to the sales rep. Anyhow, here’s the loot:
I’ll be adding SuSE 9.3 Professional as soon as it gets here – which is supposedly by 09/16/05. My calendar is marked!
He’s here! More pictures to come later.
We’re on the road again. This time we’re at Moore County Regional Medical Center or something like that. Bonnie’s sister is well on her way to delivering. The hospital has free wifi for “guests” which apparently includes me. Snazzy. As soon as the baby gets here, I’ll be back there taking pictures and uploading them as soon as I can.
