In very sad news, my monitor is developing an issue. The right side of my display has this little flicker, identical to what you would expect to see if my refresh rate was say, 60Hz. However, the flicker is only on the ~3 inches to the very right edge of my monitor, and my refresh rate is set at 100Hz. There’s another monitor sitting near there, but it’s powered down and I can’t figure out why else it would be doing it unless it’s on the verge of failing. I guess this is my wakeup call that I need to get the 21″ GDM-F500R FD Trinitron repaired and get this tiny 19″ Dell/Sony Trinitron P991 off my desk as my primary display.

Bonnie and myself made our first trip together to the drive-in together last night and saw Shrek2. After hearing all the rave reviews, the movie HAD to be excellent to measure up to all the good things I had heard about it. Most people were saying it was as good as the first one, while some thought Shrek2 might even be the better of the pair.

I was not at all disappointed. The witty humor that I loved about the original Shrek was back in FULL force in the sequel. I won’t post any plot details (aka spoilers to those who know movies), but if you enjoyed Shrek, do yourself a favor and go see Shrek2. It’s awesome.

Did you know that the common package of Pez candies has 9g of sugar according to the nutrition information on the outer packaging. These seems somewhat logical considering that the little candy dispensers practically spit out solid sugar cubes. However, the interesting fact is that when you look on the wrapper from around the actual candies, it says “Net wt. 8.5g” on the label. Now, math has never been my favorite subject, but something just seems a bit off to me there. Maybe I’m just stupid, but from my understanding, the Metric system is pretty tight when measuring the mass of something. Explanation anyone? On second thought, I don’t want to know. If there *is* a logical explanation, that would make this entry much less funny.

The episode of CSI: Miami last week introduced the major players in CSI: NY and it was all-in-all, a good piece of television. Gary Sinese will excel in this role and be a much better lead character than Horatio Cain (David Caruso) is on Miami. Sinese’s character, Mac Taylor portrayed the same attitude of superiority that Cain gives off, but in a much milder, non-offensive manner.

CBS is releasing information about their lineup for this fall. Rather than giving one of the CSI series a spot on weekend primetime, they’re crunching them in early in the week. Miami and the original CSI will stay in their current time slots and New York will take over the spot currently held by ’48 Hours Investigates.’ That will give us shows on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. This is fantastic since 24 airs on Tuesday nights. and will give me a solid week of TV Crime Drama.

Rather than upgrade the 4 other blogs I currently have installed, I decided I would push my primary blog to the front of the line. The upgrade was beautiful. I always forget my .htaccess file on the first attempt, but oh well. Anyhow, I’m done with this one and will migrate The Wedding, All About Bonnie, and complete the blog which will hold my old LiveJournal archives. Finally, GetOffTheComputer.com will eventually be upgraded, but only when… well… you’ll see. 🙂

People, the time is night. SixApart’s recent announcement regarding the licensing change for MovableType 3 has caused and will continue to cause many headaches to the bloggers around the world. Even more problematic is the cost to which it would cost people to use their system. Over the past couple days, the WordPress has seen a HUGE influx of new users, both at the user-level and in the uber-geek area as well. Thank goodness there are people like myself and Craig around to translate between the alpha’s and the omega’s.

I’ve gotten Jim to ease onto the WordPress bandwagon with a site he is currently developing and I’m hoping that he is loving it. He and Eric are both MT users and one can only hope that they will see the light soon.

All of this is being said for one main reason. MovableType users, switch/upgrade to WordPress! Eric Meyer did it. Mark Pilgrim did it. There are loads of others who have made the switch.

So, if you use MT to power a blog. The time is nigh! My friend Carthik, aka 2fargon, has written an excellent guide to making the conversion, so check it out!

Besides, all of us cool people have been using WordPress for a while now
