It’s Monday, but not such a bad one that I’m glad its over. Lots of news and decisions today. To follow up from my post about my partying neighbors, they were evicted today! Apparently there have been at least three other complaints about these people before, and they have talked with them and addressed each complaint directly to the tenants of 21, so that’s all settled. They’re GW students so it’s kinda bad for them to have 30 days to find a new place during school, but at the same time I just have to laugh at their stupidity. Warned three times and still can’t Good luck to them getting another place if they use my property management company as a reference.

The even bigger news is that I’m definitely moving out of this apartment. I’ve got my written 30 days notice and the check to break the lease sititng here to deliver tomorrow. I’ve already discussed it with the lady at the management office and she agreed that I would be stupid not to take this house. It’s definitely going to be a fixer-upper of sorts, but we’re having 50% off employee sale at work during October, so that kinda seems like a sign to me. I’m really looking forward to going in and painting everything and running a network through all the rooms. I’m planning on taking the extra $50 I’m saving on rent and giving it to TimeWarner for digital cable service with a DVR built in. 🙂

And finally, my news bit to disappoint all of you close to me. Effective immediately I’m withdrawing my enrollment at Gardner-Webb. Something I’ve thought long and hard about and I’m completely sure of it. I’ve already laid plans and hope to have or be really close to getting my MCSE by this time next year hopefully. Not really sure where else the road is leading right now, but school just wasn’t where I felt like I needed to be. Sorry if any of you are disappointed, but not sorry for letting go of something that wasn’t meant for me right now.

Well I’m off to relax and play with the new kitten some more. CSI: Miami is on soon! 🙂

That seems to be the theme outside at my apartment complex on the weekends lately. Whoever is living in #21 has been having a party on Saturday nights. Tonight I saw at least 3 men’s soccer players from GWU, another girl or two that I recognized as well as several kids that can’t be a day older than 18. Funnels, camera, and any kind of glass bottle you can imagine. I wish I would have taken a picture of the pile of empty beer cans I saw last Sunday morning when I went out to church. Quite crazy I think…

Anyway, it’s getting kind of old. I think there have been some complaints made to the office about some partying and general rowdiness lately, mainly because we all had a flyer stuck in our door last night when I got home remind us of the rules.

The cops showed up tonight though. 🙂 That made me happy for a while. I almost wish I could take the credit for calling them so that everyone else would be thanking me like I was thanking them when I saw the 3 patrol cars pull in tonight. SO they’re quiet for now, and it better stay that way cause I’m going to bed. Next time I WILL be making the phone call and taking the credit for it if they disturb me, and I will show no remorse. I don’t mind being around alcohol and I’m not trying to be judgemental, but when it becomes obnoxious, then I have problems. Keep it to yourself idiots….

I should definitely be sleeping, but I’m attempting to solve a problem with my “server” that I’ve stitched together. I snagged on old IBM on a deal and I’ve installed a Windows Server 2003 evaluation copy that MS sent me so I can play and learn. Well, things were running smoothly for a few days. I was using it as a file server and I had already dumped my MP3 collection to it, but now it won’t boot. I think it’s a driver issue, but that doesn’t even make sense. It’s an older 3com card and I’ve used it in a LOT of different systems before, but the driver wasn’t signed for 2k3, only Win2k and XP. Stupid OS won’t even boot to Safe Mode though for me to solve the issue though. I can get Safe Mode with a command prompt, but thats about it. It was working fine though is what really irks me. I did attempt to install terminal services tonight though, so it’s something related to that I’m sure.

In better news, I got a major system upgrade today! Out with the Athlon 1800+ and in with the 2500+. And while I’m at it, out with the 256MB of PC2100 memory and in with the 512MB stick of PC3200. WOW is all I can say! Definitely a noticeable difference in speediness of applications. I hope to get a chance to play some BF1942 soon and note that speed difference there.I think I’m actually going to attempt to over clock this one as soon as I get myself a nice aftermarket cooler. For now I’m using the old one from the 1800+ with stock clock and multiplier settings and its a nice 47C degrees, so no complaints.

Well it’s off to bed I go. If you’re interseted in performing a hardware upgrade like this yourself, you should check out my article for today on GetOffTheComputer.com, it can be found here.

Well I’m in Atlanta and still in one piece, which really is more of a feat than you might imagine. The trip down was nice but once we got into the city, the adventure began. I’m sure that I will rant more later, but these people are a little too obsessed with peaches when it comes to naming their streets! Our hotel is located on W. Peachtree St, which of course is an entirely different road than just Peachtree St. These two streets run parallel to one another! How idiotic could this city planner have been? Sigh…

The hotel has free wifi access, something I wasn’t expecting but came prepared for just in case. We also have loud guests directly above us making it very hard to get any sleep at night.

The restaurant tonight was, in one word: superb. Sambuca is a jazz club/themed restaurant with amazing food, excellent service, and an extremley cool atmosphere.

Well, more to come once I’m home. In the meantime be sure and check out the pics on the /mobile page.

Things have been busy as usual, maybe even busier lately. School, work, homework, personal website, GetOffTheComputer.com, and the newest venture of my partnership with Brandon (more details coming soon!). We’re hard at work on a new website for our new business idea and the more I do of this sort of thing the more I love it. I’ve built a lot of computers lately to for ESI and that has been fairly rewarding for me financially.

I may be moving sometime soon, if I can get out of my current lease without a lot of problems. Someone from Crestview tipped me off that their parents owned the house nextdoor to them and said it would be open soon. All I know about the house now is that its a 2 bedroom for $300 a month, which is less than what I pay now for my teeny little apartment. Not to mention what I would save on utilities. The house has a well for water I think, and it’s definitely not in the city limits of Shelby which would probably cut my power bill in half. The best part though is that I’ll have the freedom to do what I want with the place as far as painting and decorating goes. Hopefully I’ll get to see the house soon and have some news for you about the whole situation.

In other news, I’ll be doing some traveling this weekend. Bonnie and me are going to Atlanta with Brandon and his lovely wife to see a Braves game on Friday night. I’m really relieved to just be getting away from town/work/school for a while and getting some rest while hanging out with some good friends. It should definitely be a fun couple of days.
